Netherworld Post Office is the art studio of Atticus Redghost
What began as web experiments in the early 90s, when the internet was so new and fresh, has grown into a studio for bespoke fantasy writing and research, drawing and painting, mail and mischief.
The name of the studio has evolved a few times but the mission remains forever the same: lighthearted things that do not exist but should. Make the world a bit weirder, more special. Tap into the magic underpinning existence. Celebrate Halloween every day.
My work frequently revolves around:
- “Monster? You mean my best friend in the multiverse who has done nothing wrong, ever, to anyone?”
- Fantastical worlds that do not now, nor ever have, nor ever will, have humans as inhabitants.
- Tearing apart tropes that mermaids and other aquatic monsters are naturally inferior to magic and/or are inherently less civilized than the terrestrial monsters.
- Similarly, offering alternatives to the pervasive conceit that half elves are intrinsically inferior to elves.
- Adapting real world systems to fantasy world systems (most overtly: the post office).
